Busta Rhymes Leaves Cash Money Records

Many Hip Hop fans were surprised when New York rap legend Busta Rhymes announced he had joined the roster at Cash Money Records. And now, after several years, the partnership between Busta and YMCMB has come to an end

After spending two and a half years with Cash Money Records, Busta Rhymes has decided to become a free agent and test the market. In an interview with Sway In The Morning, the legend revealed that his decision to leave stemmed from creative differences and that there’s no hard feelings between him and YMCMB.

“I was there with for two years and the opportunity was a great opportunity at the time, because of the type of deal that was done,” Busta explained.

“For me, with this particular project and all of the sacrifice that went into it —

recording the album for five years, I lost Chris Lighty making this album, I lost my father making this album —

the shit I was putting into this album, I’m not compromising my vision for it, ”he said.

Adding, “So if I feel like if, in the slightest way, we ain’t facilitating everything necessary for the vision to be seen and executed

in the way I’m envisioning this shit for the last five years, let me live and die in my own own inequity.”

Currently, Busta is working on his tenth album, Extinction Level Event 2, which spawns the tongue twisting record “Calm Down” featuring Eminem.
